Farm to Hair

Similar to A+Co Hair, Davines is a family-owned company, founded in Italy by the Bollati family in 1983.
Davines has become a globally recognised brand, known for its commitment to sustainability, transparency and innovation.
They believe that true success encompasses care for the planet and its communities.

The Davines Village

Located in Parma, Italy, the Davines Village serves as the brand’s headquarters, where research, production and packaging takes place. Many of the organic ingredients used in Davines products are grown on-site. Davines also incorporates ingredients that are farmed regeneratively in local Italian villages, ensuring a ‘Farm to Hair’ approach.

Most Davines products are 88%–98.9% naturally derived, offering a nourishing and eco-friendly alternative for hair care. As a Certified B Corporation (achieving a B Lab score of 117.4 — well above the certification threshold), Davines balances profit with positive environmental and social impact.

The Davines Village is dedicated to sustainability, with initiatives such as:

-
A 3,000-square-meter Scientific Garden for research on plant properties and eco-friendly ingredients
-
A plastic-free policy with reusable materials replacing disposables
-
100% renewable energy, eliminating fossil gas in favour of bio-methane and geothermal energy
-
Energy-efficient offices powered by solar, geothermal, and photovoltaic systems
-
Organic waste repurposed for the garden and charging stations for electric vehicles
“BY CREATING BEAUTY SUSTAINABLY, WE ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES, OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH THEY LIVE & WORK, AND OF THE THINGS THEY LOVE.”
– Davide Bollati, President of Davines

Davines Sustainability Initiatives

Davines is committed to the bigger picture — creating a better, more sustainable environment for everyone. Its sustainability efforts focus on regenerative agriculture, eco-friendly packaging, and renewable energy.

Regenerative Organic Agriculture & EROC
Davines champions regenerative organic agriculture, restoring soil ecosystems while promoting sustainability. In collaboration with the Rodale Institute, it launched the European Regenerative Organic Center (EROC) in 2021 to support small-to-mid-size European farms.

Sustainable Formulas
Davines prioritises high-quality, eco-certified, and organic ingredients, reducing water and energy consumption while utilising renewable resources.

Sustainable Packaging
Davines packaging is designed to be resource-efficient, recyclable and waste-reducing. They follow five eco-design principles to guide their packaging research, ensuring that materials are minimised, while maintaining product protection. As of 2022, Davines plastic packaging consists of 35.9% virgin plastic, 20.8% bio-based plastic, 39.1% recycled plastic, and 4.2% mass balance, with an 18.9% reduction in virgin plastic usage since 2018.

Plastic Net-Zero Certification
Partnering with Plastic Bank since 2021, Davines has recovered 779+ tons of plastic from the environment. All products are Plastic Net-Zero certified, offsetting plastic use by removing an equivalent amount from coastal areas in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brazil.

Renewable Energy
Davines operates solely on renewable energy sources—solar, hydro, wind, and geothermal—minimising its environmental footprint.
